Oak Crest pooches and people alike were on parade the last few weeks as Oak Crest saw two great events that helped to display some of the outstanding features of Oak Crest: The Oak Crest Canine Cup and the Oak Crest Halloween Costume Contest.

On October 27th, Oak Crest Residents brought out their furry friends to compete in the community’s semi-annual Canine Cup. A dozen of Oak Crest’s top canines competed in categories such as Best Costume, Best Trick, and Waggiest Tail, but the top prize was the coveted Best in Show. Dogs were rated on Oak Crest’s famous ‘Four Paw System.’

“Oak Crest is pet-friendly retirement community with common sense ownership rules in place,” stated Jeff Getek, public affairs manager, and show host. “We understand that pets, particularly dogs, are really like members of the family for people of all ages. Every day, it’s fun to watch residents socialize as they are walking their dogs around our loop road.”

But dogs weren’t the only ones on display as on Monday, October 31st the residents and staff participated in the annual Halloween Costume Contest. Some creative and creepy costumes crossed the Auditorium stage in this annual Media Arts presentation. First, Second, and Third place prizes were awarded in both resident and staff divisions. There was also a prize for the most creative costume.
