Armchair Travel: Utah

This past March I went out to Utah with my roommate from college, and let me tell you, it was quite the time. I learned a lot about myself, about nature…and that Utah is a very, very interesting place.

We started off our trip in Salt Lake City and made our way down the state, eventually ending in Las Vegas. The first stop we made was a place called Antelope Island. The day was rainy and cloudy so it wasn’t the best start to the trip, but we did get to see so much water and the Great Salt Lake!

The next day we woke up and headed to Park City to meet up with a few of our sorority sisters to go skiing. This was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. When they say there is nothing like West Coast skiing, they are right.

Then we made a 4 hour trek to Moab, where we spent two days visiting Canyonlands and Arches National Park. It was here at Canyonlands that I thought I would not make it back to Baltimore. To hear the story, you’ll have to watch the show on Monday.

After Moab, we drove another few hours to a very small town called Torrey where we went to a park called Capitol Reef. We spent one night here and went horseback riding near the back of the park.

Next, we drove another 2 hours until we hit Bryce Canyon; a huge highlight of the trip. We had beautiful weather the entire day of hiking, which was nice since some of the other days were rainy.

After Bryce, we hit our final destination on the trip; Zion National Park. It was a huge bummer because it was raining the entire day at the park causing some of the trails to close. We ate lunch at a cute little brewery in the park, then went to get our race bibs for our half marathon the next day.

I won’t bore you with the details of the race, but it was definitely not what we were expecting for a half marathon…

After we ran, we drove the last leg of the trip; about 3 hours to Las Vegas. No better way to end a trip.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and I’m so glad I made it out to Utah. To hear more about my trip make sure to watch Channel 973 on Monday, November 27th at 10AM, 2PM, 7PM, 9PM, and 12 midnight. It will also be available the following day at oakcresttv.com.

My talk on Utah & Las Vegas will be the following day in the Auditorium on Tuesday, November 28th at 7PM. Hope to see you all there!
