This past Thursday seats were filled with Oak Crest residents, but more importantly, Oak Crest Veterans. This day was to honor you and thank you for your service.
The event started with three residents marching down the aisle in Erickson Hall. Then, we sang the National; Anthem, and Jim Truitt led us in prayer.
Next, Executive Director, Mark Roussey, spoke and told everyone “thank you” and said what a special day this was. It was great to see the entire hall filled with residents, their family members, and staff.
After Mark spoke, resident, Louise Kaufman, recited a powerful poem that then led into a very thrilling performance by Charles Wissinger. He portrayed Audie Murphy, most decorated soldier from World War II. Everyone was taken aback at how great his performance was.
As Charles Wissinger left the stage, The Benfield Brass Band grabbed their instruments and played a number of patriotic songs. Like they do most years, when they played the medley of all the Armed Forces songs, each resident stood for their branch.
It was a day filled of true patriotism and it was great to see those Oak Crest residents honored.
The program will air on Wednesday, November 15th at 10AM, 2PM, 7PM, 9PM, and 12 midnight. It will also be available the following day at oakcresttv.com.
